In 2012 Electromech purchased a Dry Ice Blaster. This machine has been used for cleaning gas turbine rotors and parts. It is also used for cleaning Generator Rotors, Boiler Tubes and Stators. It can have many other applications. The Dry Ice Blaster uses CO2 dry ice pellets as the medium to cleaning items in a subtle way saving the integrity of the item being blasted. The CO2 evaporates into the air leaving no water or moisture. It only leaves minimal debris of the surface being cleaned.
In 2018 Electromech purchased a Bolttech Manning Induction Heater. An opportunity arose with Genesis Energy for their 2018 Major Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine overhaul. Electromech has supplied experienced Mechanical Fitters to Genesis for the Gas Turbine since it was commissioned in 2006. It has successfully carried annual maintenance on the GT on time and budget with no rework. On major overhauls there are many casing bolts around the GT Rotor and Steam Turbine Rotor that can only be loosened and tensioned by means of induction heating. This service has previously been supplied by an Australian company that transport an induction heater to NZ from Australia. Electromech is the only company in NZ with an Induction Heater of this capacity. Electromech can see opportunities for this machine for other industries around NZ.
