Electromech Limited is an owner operated company based in Stratford, Taranaki. It was formed in March 1993 and has been operating successfully since then servicing the Power Generation and Oil & Gas Industries within New Zealand.
The business started by taking opportunities in the early nineties when corporations were becoming privately owned and reducing staff numbers. This gave an opportunity to supply resources to top up labour requirements for these companies on planned and forced outages and general work.
Electromech provides mechanical services on rotating equipment such as Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines and Generators. Other services include mechanical maintenance and fabrication to the industry, including planning and scheduling.
Because of the complexity of technical mechanical fitting and the high costs involved in this type of work, the company has established a relationship with a team of experienced tradesmen who have the right attitude and appreciate the type of equipment that they are required to work on and provide services for. We understand that most jobs are critical path and need to be completed on time, safely and on budget.
Electromech is committed to supplying quality professional services and experienced tradesman at competitive rates for this type of industry while meeting all safety, health and environmental requirements.
Electromech has worked for many companies and corporations and is committed to ensuring they work within that sites company policies and procedures in regards to Health, Safety and Environmental issues. Electromech has an exemplary record with regards to safety. Employees working for Electromech are familiar with permit systems, Hazard Identifications, and the need to report incidents and unsafe situations.
In 2012 Electromech purchased a Dry Ice Blaster. This machine has been used for cleaning gas turbine rotors and parts. It is also used for cleaning Generator Rotors, Boiler Tubes and Stators. It can have many other applications. The Dry Ice Blaster uses CO2 dry ice pellets as the medium to cleaning items in a subtle way saving the integrity of the item being blasted. The CO2 evaporates into the air leaving no water or moisture. It only leaves minimal debris of the surface being cleaned.
In 2018 Electromech purchased a Bolttech Manning Induction Heater. An opportunity arose with Genesis Energy for their 2018 Major Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine overhaul. Electromech has supplied experienced Mechanical Fitters to Genesis for the Gas Turbine since it was commissioned in 2006. It has successfully carried annual maintenance on the GT on time and budget with no rework.
On major overhauls there are many casing bolts around the GT Rotor and Steam Turbine Rotor that can only be loosened and tensioned by means of induction heating. This service has previously been supplied by an Australian company that transport an induction heater to NZ from Australia. Electromech is the only company in NZ with an Induction Heater of this capacity. Electromech can see opportunities for this machine for other industries around NZ.
